Funeral live streaming across Newcastle and the Hunter

When someone cannot be in the room, a live stream lets them be part of the service as it happens. We cover Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast, we can usually work at a few days' notice, and the recording comes to you whatever the internet does on the day.

What we do on the day

We arrive well before the service and set up while the chapel is still empty. Audio is taken from the celebrant's microphone or the venue's own sound system, not from a camera at the back of the room, which is the single biggest difference between a stream people can follow and one they give up on. Where the service allows more than one camera, we cut between them live so the people watching see the person speaking.

We do not move around during the service, we do not use flash, and we pack down after everyone has left. The stream goes to a private link you can send to family, and the recording follows afterwards.

Two things that go wrong at funerals, and how we handle them

The first is the connection. Crematorium chapels and cemetery grounds are often on the edge of town with thin mobile coverage, and venue wifi is built for the office rather than for live video. We bring Starlink to every job, so the stream runs on our connection and nobody has to go looking for a password.

The second is losing the footage. A stream that fails is upsetting; a service with no recording at all is worse, because it cannot be repeated. We record locally at the same time as we stream, on more than one card, so the recording survives a dropped connection, a flat battery or an outage at the streaming platform.

What you are actually paying for

Starlink on every job

The stream runs on our own satellite connection, not the venue's wifi and not a mobile hotspot. Chapels, cemeteries, gardens and vineyards are exactly the places where reception fails, and we have removed that from the list of things you need to worry about.

The recording is guaranteed

We record locally on redundant media at the same time as we stream. If the internet drops, if the power goes out, if a viewer's connection fails, the recording is still made and you still receive it.

Blackmagic Design broadcast kit

Real cameras and a vision switcher, cut live between angles, with audio taken from the celebrant or the venue's own system. Not a phone on a tripod at the back of the room.

Quiet, and quick to book

We set up early, stay out of the way and pack down without interrupting anything. Funerals can be booked at a few days' notice, and the recording comes back to you quickly.

Funeral live streaming questions

The things families ask us most often.

Do you need the venue's wifi or internet?

No. We bring our own Starlink satellite connection to every service and run the stream on that. Chapels, crematorium grounds, cemeteries and family homes are exactly the places where mobile reception is poor, so we removed the dependency entirely. We do not need a password from the venue and we do not need anything from the funeral director's IT.

What happens if the internet drops during the service?

The recording keeps going. We record locally on redundant media at the same time as we stream, so a network problem, a power problem or a platform problem cannot cost you the footage. You receive the full recording regardless of what the live stream did on the day.

Does the family get a copy of the recording?

Yes. The recording is included, not an extra. We hand it over as a file or a private link so you can keep it and share it with anyone who missed the stream.

Can the stream be private?

Yes. Streams can be unlisted or password protected so only the people you send the link to can watch. Nothing is published publicly unless the family asks for that.

How much notice do you need?

Funerals are usually arranged in a few days and we work to that. Call us as soon as you have a date and venue and we will tell you immediately whether we can cover it. We would rather say no quickly than leave you waiting.

Will the crematorium or chapel allow a live stream?

Almost always, yes. Several venues in the region, including Newcastle Memorial Park at Beresfield and Lake Macquarie Memorial Park at Ryhope, have their own in-house webcasting systems, and independent crews are a normal part of funerals now. We speak to the venue and the funeral director beforehand so nobody is surprised on the day.

How do relatives overseas watch it?

They click one link at the time of the service. No app, no account, no software to install. If the time difference means they cannot watch live, the recording is there for them afterwards.

Will your equipment be visible or intrusive?

We set up before mourners arrive, work from the back or the side, use no flash and no moving lights, and do not walk around during the service. Most people do not notice we are there.

Can you stream a graveside service, or one at a family home?

Yes. Because we bring our own connection, an outdoor graveside service, a garden, a beach or a backyard is no harder for us than a chapel. We have live streamed a memorial from a family garden.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on how long the service runs and how many cameras you want. Our funeral packages are set out on this page, and there is no travel surcharge anywhere in the Hunter, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie, Maitland or the Central Coast.
